19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, comprising in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent defended four initial break points in a close final set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
